7th January – 4th February 2015
I currently have two pieces of work in the exhibition, ‘Ohio Locus 27’, and ‘Mothers Touch’.
‘Crafting Anatomies will place the human body at the centre of a multi-disciplinary dialogue; exploring how this entity has been interpreted, crafted and reimagined in historical, contemporary and future contexts.’ Bonington Gallery
The exhibition dissects attitudes and approaches towards contexts of the body by showcasing visionary practices of leading international artists, clinicians and designers. These are featured alongside anatomical exhibits selected from historical collections including films from The Wellcome Trust archive.
Organs crafted by silk worms, bespoke jewellery cultured from human skin cells, and couture garments constructed using plastic surgery cutting techniques are just some of the speculative projects that will be on display.
The following images show details from the work ‘Ohio Locus 27’, included in the exhibition. This is one of a series of works from the research funded project ‘Locus of the Dress’, which is currently in progress.
